The applauded chronicle
of achievement in Indian economy with development of science and technology
could not stimulate or translate the same vigour in the Indian Farmers. They
are deluded and prospective honey to harness and a subject of experiment to
enrich agricultural sciences and their flag bearers. They have made every
possible effort to restrict the secrecy of scientific skills with the farmers. The
day has come for PETA to work for this deluded animal….the farmers of India.
The same story is shared by Indian science graduates. Please do not co-relate
their status with the development and success of ISRO, BARK or DRDO. They play
meagre role in employing science graduate. They employ science graduate
according to their needs. But they are not the authorised body to think or
utilize the rest mass of science scholars. Dept. of Science & Technology,
Dept. of Biotechnology, Indian Universities with Several agencies under Krishi
Bhawan could have formulated better plan to engage science graduate to empower
the agriculture and farmers. But our Indian agencies do not have shared dreams.
In simple words, One India does not have institutional bonding for composite or
inclusive participation for a better future.
Green revolution is
sought as unmatchable achievement of science in agriculture. The Veracity of
Green revolution can be judged easily when the entire scientific community
beckon towards organic farming for healthy life. Still they have suspicion in realizing that the revolution, they had acclaimed a boon for agriculture and a great contribution of scientific machinery, has delivered drastic results. It
is indicative for realization that the tools and technique must be reviewed.
Administrative structure, Educational tools and stakeholders are enjoying the
bad state.
Development of Science
and technology is institutionalized as power centre in central and state
domain. They treat education and research as separate entity. That’s why research
in Agriculture has been myopic and confined with professional goals in excess,
and very little with problem solving strategy. Several hybrid varieties of Crops have been
developed. More varieties will be developed in near future. Why? Are they have
been developed for the sake of Farmers or the consumers? They have been
developed for research papers, publications and patent. They have been
developed to be maintained as a new variety to incur public expenses. Why seeds
are so costly? Who are employed in production of seeds? Why could we not have
yet empowered our farmers for community seed production under the guidance of
Agricultural scientific authority? One can be amazed to know that farmers
developed the technique of seed preparation in pre-historic time. Later on
science as an established stream absorbed this art of seed preparation and
hybridization as seed technology. Today, farmers are dependent on market for
major crop seeds. Now you can guess how our science and their flag bearer’s
made the efficient farmer a dependable farmer.
Apart from having
massive scientific infrastructure, India has chains of central and state
universities, but we do not have a proper survey of flora and fauna on regional
or national level.
EDUCATIONAL TOOLS IN AGRICULTURE
Before going in the
topic, I would like to share an event when My Boss enquired about my decision, “When
you can better continue your ancestral occupation of farming why are you dreaming
for PHD”. I can say only that no
Psychologist can decipher the intention and state of mind of the questioner’s
better than me. Even today I wonder for the absolute answer. Why people go for
PHD? How many Universities in India have pre-defined answer on its necessity?
Who is a Bachelor or Master? Why basic sciences are so neglected? I think even
UGC do not have made these information available in public domain ever.
Similarly, the Agricultural universities and the highest agricultural
educational body IARI do not have established answer for above mentioned basic
questions. Should I use RTI act for these information! How cheated we are! We
are on a shop, purchasing every time some unidentified particulars. And our
surviving pattern is same as that of flora on the earth, tainted, controlled
and exploited.
A bird’s eye view of
the career path in Agriculture will highlight the importance of professional
courses over basic sciences. They enjoy exemptions from barriers like NET or
GATE. Now see the result on the horizon. So many professional outlets could not
establish the work of farmer as an economic activity and Agriculture as an
industry. They could not employ the established discipline of Business accounts
among farmers for the betterment of Agriculture. The day farmer will start practicing business account record; there will be no requirement for government
aid and subsidy. It is imperative to understand, what is being taught in
Agricultural Economics. Who is the beneficiary of Agricultural economics? The
Government who spoil tonnes of food grain every year or the farmer who has no
right to maintain expense account to fix the rate of food grain. There is no
issue in agreement that Professional courses are designed for corporate plan. Even
the Government’s academic & scientific body play a crucial role in
discouraging research by restricting scholarship by NET or GATE. These
qualifications are false & forged over academic qualification and a planned
strategy to make rural and semi-urban or tutionless science scholar choiceless.
Can anybody answer, why the sample question answer by CSIR-NET is not available
throughout the year on their website? That sensational material comes for
4-5days. To whom this appeasement belongs? Why CSIR conduct the NET? That means
UGC do not have qualification for conducting test for Lecturers in science. In
the name of B.ed, highly qualified basic science graduate and postgraduates are
debarred from educational career too. What is the concept of these stop gates.
Who are running these stop gate courses? Why these courses are so costly in comparison
to basic sciences? Please tell me the name of single equipment used in B.ed
education costly than even Microscope of High school’s Biology Lab. Even the
dissecting box used by science scholar costs nearly one thousand INR. I
completed my graduation in less than 1000 as college fee in a college with
adequate lab facility and faculty. If B.ed is so necessary even for high school
and intermediate student then why government universities are unable in bulk
production with sophisticated fees. Education is the instrument for creative
world. Formal training cannot be denied. But it can be provided at school level
too.
Realize the
shrillness of truth behind the fact, “Almost 70 percent of population is
dependent on Agriculture, but no educational board has stuff for coddling
student for being prospective farmer.” Why? Government, their staff and entire
humanity survive on the stuff produced by farmers, but farming is not a
respected profession. Things can be changed. Educated young population have the
potential to transform the system. But a holistic approach is imperative. Stop
gates must have some kind of mitigation to enjoy the benefits of demographic
dividends. Bring a new genre of empowered Farmers. A farmer having scientific
and managerial approach. A farmer as a prospective teacher, nutrition expert
and saviour of Bio-diversity. Hope the day will come………… Village in rural and
colony in township is a stable unit of social, economical and political life.
Educated young population must get opportunity to design educational,
agricultural and business environment of a village. then, both Farmer and Science graduate will enjoy their status. meragaonmeradesh.blogspot.in
